Prepare The Pages

Every page on your website needs

Every single page on your website must be optimized for the search engines. This means every page needs:

1) Page Title
2) Meta Tags
3) Keywords in Header tags
4) ALT tags on all images
5) Keyword-filled content
6) Keywords as close to the top of each page as possible
7) Keywords in links to other pages
8) Keywords in outbound links

Page Title

Most search engines will use this as part of the information that is displayed when your site shows up in search results.

It is also important in the determination of what a particular page is about. For this reason you should make sure to put keywords in your page title, and preferably at the beginning of the title.

For example, for my AffiliateMatch.com website, my page title is:

Affiliate Programs Directory - AffiliateMatch.com

This helps my site to rank well for searches on “affiliate” or “affiliate programs” or “affiliate programs directory.”

Make sure you put in your most important keywords that you found in the previous article, and try to position them at the beginning.

It is not always possible to put them at the beginning and still be readable, but will definitely help if you are able to do this.

Meta Tags

These things become less and less important as time goes by.

At this point I don’t believe very many search engines even look at Meta Tags anymore, but since they are easy enough to setup, and because some engines do use them, it can’t hurt.

For the search engines that no longer use them, they just ignore them, so it won’t hurt you to have them on your pages.

You can find a Meta Tag Generator easily on the Internet. Just do a search in Google or Yahoo for that keyword. Simply enter your keywords and description and it will create them for you. Just copy and paste that into your page and you are set.

Keywords in Header tags

This means creating a heading for each page that contains the keywords you are targeting on that specific page. For example, if you want to target “search engines”, create a heading with the following code:

<h1>Search Engines</h1>

To your visitors, this would look like:

Search Engines

If that is too large for your particular page, you can also go with <h2> and <h3> tags instead.

To the search engines, this would be considered an important keyword phrase for that page.

The search engine would then compare that to the rest of the text found on the page and use all of this to determine the most important keywords for that particular page.

Make sure you do this on every page of your website!

ALT tags on all images

Another tip is to make sure every image on each page of your website has the ALT attribute. You want to put keywords in these. Don’t overdo this, but use them as an additional place to plug in a few keywords.

The way this looks is:

<img src=”/images/someimage.gif” alt=”search engines”>

In this example, I’d be adding a little more weighting for the phrase: “search engines”.

The actual purpose for this tag is to display text for those that surf with images turned off, or when you move your mouse over an image this text is what will popup.

Somebody along the line figured out you could stuff keywords in there because some search engines use the information in the alt tags for keyword relevancy calculations as well.

Keyword-filled content

You really can’t get away from this one. The more content-filled pages your website has, the better.

The fact is that they like lots of relevant, keyword-filled content. The more they can find, the happier they (and you) will be.

The best way that I have found to do this is with articles.

Articles can be reused in so many different ways, and they add excellent search engine bait for your website.

In later articles I’ll give you some great ideas for using articles as an important part of your traffic-building strategy.

Keywords as close to the top of each page as possible

This is my favorite, and I only wish I would have figured it out sooner! What this entails is very simply making sure you have the keywords you are targeting with a particular page as high up in the code for that page as possible.

To see this, open your web page with Notepad and look through all the gibberish … Title, Meta Tags, all that junk and look for the very first words that would be visible to someone reading your page.

The absolute first words need to be keywords!

As an example, take a look at my AffiliateMatch website by clicking here. Once that window opens up, go to the View Menu in your browser, and then Source. This is the actual code that makes up this page, and is also what the search engines see.

After you wade through all the gobbledygook, you’ll get to the text that visitors will actually see. In this graphic I’ve highlighted the first two words:

sample pages

Even though there is a ton of junk above that, the search engines know that these are the first ‘visible’ words on this page.

The very first words for this page are affiliate programs. That’s the phrase I’m targeting.

Go to Google.com and type in affiliate programs and see what site is number one, and you’ll see how well this works.

When I first discovered this I actually redesigned this particular website to make sure I put those words at the top like that.

Before this I had a menu on the left that actually was higher up in the code of the page.

The problem was that I had text in there too, like: “Signup for my newsletter!” and things like that. This greatly affected my rankings.

After redesigning my site to allow me to put keywords higher up in the code, I quickly started seeing it rise in the rankings.

If your present design doesn’t allow for this, you might want to give some thought to either having only graphics in the menu, or redesigning it.

The idea for having more graphics is that these will be overlooked by the search engines as they search for the first ‘visible’ text on the page.

Keywords in links to other pages

Make sure when you have links to other pages on your site, or to other websites, that you use your keywords in the link.

For example, if you are targeting “search engines” on a particular page, create a link to a page on your site, and in the link call it: search engine listings.

The page the link points to can simply be a list of the most popular search engines.

Here is the same screen shot of the source code from my AffiliateMatch website so you can see an example of this, but this time I’ve highlighted it so you can see that the first two words that I showed you above are also part of a link:

sample pages

Search engines will use the text from your links as another determining factor as to what your page is about, and also what the page you are linking to is about.

In this example you’ll notice that I’ve also bolded these words to give even more emphasis to them and make them look more important to the search engines.

I highly recommend that you combine the methods mentioned on this page whenever possible. For example, the first words on your page could be included in a header tag and be a link pointing to another page on your site.

Combining them in this manner can greatly increase your chances of getting great rankings.

Keywords in outbound links

This is the same as the last one, except this refers to using keywords in the links to other sites.

Again, if you are talking about search engines on a page, and link to someone else’s site for an article on search engine positioning, put “search engine positioning” in the actual link so it looks like:

search engine positioning

The alternative that many people use, but that doesn’t help their search engine ranking any, is to just show the website address like:

www.joeshomepages.com/~redy4u/search.htm

This doesn’t help either of you very much … at least not as far as search engines are concerned.

Whenever you are putting together a page to add to your website, fire up this page and incorporate as many of these steps as possible.

Rename Files Easily With A .BAT File

Lets say you have downloaded some game or application that was 50 parts big, and you had to rename them all from .bmp to .rar to extract them.

You can easily create a batch file that does that for you.

Open Notepad

Fill in de notepad:

CODE
ren *.bmp *.rar

Of course, you have to edit dese two extensions to fit de files you want to convert. Save this file as renamer.bat and run it in de directory where you want to rename your downloads.

Remove Windows XP Loading Logo

How to remove Windows XP Logo and see operations

Are you havin’ boot up problems and would like to know what it goin’ on behind that Windows Loadin’ Logo? To find out, you can disable de splash screen by makin’ a small change to de Boot.ini file.

Follow dese steps (carefully!):

1. Open de “System Properties” dialog box ( Settin’s - Control Panel - System)

2. On de Advanced tab, click de Settin’s button in de “Startup And Recovery” section.

3. In de “Startup And Recovery” dialog box, select de Edit button in de “System Startup” section.

4. The Boot.ini file will open in Notepad; locate de line that ends with de /fastdetect switch.

5. Position your cursor to de right after de parameter, press de spacebar, and add de /SOS switch.

6. Save de Boot.ini file, and close Notepad.

7. Click Cancel to close both de “Startup And Recovery” dialog box and de “System Properties” dialog box.

8. Restart de computer to see de effect.

Once de computer restarts you will notice that de Windows Splash Screen is no longer present. Instead you can observe some of de boot up operations that Windows XP performs durin’ de startup stage.

To renable de splash screen, follow de same procedure but remove de “/SOS”.

How To Boot Windows XP Faster

First of all, this tweak only apply to those who only have one HDD on deir primary IDE channel (nothin’ else on device 0 or 1) and a CD-ROM and/or DVD-ROM on de secondary IDE channel. Each time you boot Windows XP, dere’s an updated file called NTOSBOOT-*.pf who appears in your prefetch directory (%SystemRoot%Prefetch) and dere’s no need to erase any oder files as de new prefetch option in XP really improves loadin’ time of installed programs. We only want WindowsXP to boot faster and not decrease its performance. Channel tweak as those two tricks, coupled togeder with a little modification, result in an EXTREMELY fast bootup:

1. Open notepad.exe, type “del c:windowsprefetch tosboot-*.* /q” (without de quotes) & save as “ntosboot.bat” in c:
2. From de Start menu, select “Run…” & type “gpedit.msc”.
3. Double click “Windows Settin’s” under “Computer Configuration” and double click again on “Shutdown” in de right window.
4. In de new window, click “add”, “Browse”, locate your “ntosboot.bat” file & click “Open”.
5. Click “OK”, “Apply” & “OK” once again to exit.
6. From de Start menu, select “Run…” & type “devmgmt.msc”.
7. Double click on “IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers”
8. Right click on “Primary IDE Channel” and select “Properties”.
9. Select de “Advanced Settin’s” tab den on de device 0 or 1 that doesn’t have ‘device type’ greyed out select ‘none’ instead of ‘autodetect’ & click “OK”.
10. Right click on “Secondary IDE channel”, select “Properties” and repeat step 9.
11. Reboot your computer.

Windows XP should now boot REALLY faster.

Add An Option To Print The Contents Of A Folder

Would you like to be able to right click any folder in Explorer and print its contents? You can add this option to de context menu by followin’ dese steps:

First, you need to create a batch file called Printdir.bat. Open Notepad or anoder text editor and type (or cut and paste) this text:

@echo off
dir %1 /-p /o:gn > “%temp%\Listin’”
start /w notepad /p “%temp%\Listin’”
del “%temp%\Listin’”
exit

Now, in de Save As dialog box, type “%windir%\Printdir.bat” (without de quotation marks) and click de Save button.

Click Start, Control Panel, Folder Options.
Click de File Types tab, and den click File Folder.
Click de Advanced button.
Click de New button.

In de Action box, type “Print Directory Listin’” (without de quotation marks).

In de Application used to perform action box, type “Printdir.bat” (without de quotation marks).

Click OK in all three dialog boxes to close de dialog boxes.

You’re not quite finished yet! Now you need to edit de Registry, so open your favorite Registry Editor.

Navigate to HKEY CLASSES ROOT\Directory\shell.

Right click on “default” and select Modify.
In de File Data box, type “none” (without de quotation marks).

Click OK and close de Registry Editor.

Now when you right click a folder, you’ll see de option to Print Directory Listin’. Selectin’ it will print de contents of de folder.

How do I Test My EICAR VirusScan Installation?

Description

After installin’ VirusScan, you may logically wonder, how do I know if it’s workin’? The answer is a test virus. The EICAR Standard AntiVirus Test File is a combined effort by anti-virus vendors throughout de world to implement one standard by which customers can verify deir anti-virus installations.

Solution

To test your installation, copy de followin’ line into its own file, den save de file with de name EICAR.COM. More detailed instructions are found below.

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

The file size will be 68 or 70 bytes.

If VirusScan is runnin’ and configured correctly, when you try to save de file, VirusScan will detect de virus. If VirusScan is not runnin’, start it and scan de directory that contains EICAR.COM. When your software scans this file, it will report findin’ de EICAR test file.

Note that this file is NOT A VIRUS. Delete de file when you have finished testin’ your installation to avoid alarmin’ unsuspectin’ users.

The eicar test virus is available for download from de followin’ website:

www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com

Creatin’ Eicar.com

1. Click on Start.
2. Select Run.
3. In de Open box type: notepad
4. Maximize de window.
5. Highlight de followin’ on de followin’ line of text:
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
6. Right click on de highlighted text and choose ‘copy’.
7. Switch back to Notepad.
8. Right click anywhere inside of Notepad and select ‘paste’.
9. Click de File menu and select ’save as’.
10. Change de ‘Save as Type’ to ‘all files’.
11. Name de file eicar.com.

Add Notepad In “Send-To” Shortcut

Many apply a registry tweak to have notepad as an option for unknown file types. We frequently see such files which are actually just text, but named with some odd file-extension. And den, some suspicious files which we want to make sure what de contents are. Well, in such cases where de registry tweak is applied, de downside happens to be that even some known files get associated with notepad - but no, all we want is to be able to open a file with notepad - de association part in such cases is unwanted interference. Also, notepad becomes a permanent fixture on de right-click menu - which is again an annoyance.

So what we do, is to have notepad as an option in de Send-To options, of de right-click menu in explorer. It fulfils de purpose to perfection (atleast, in my case). Here’s what we do:

1. right-click desktop, choose “New >> Shortcut”
2. Type de location of de item - “notepad” - (that’s all, no need to give path)
3. Next >> type name for shortcut - “Edit with Notepad”
4. Click finish
5. Now right-click this shortcut on de desktop, and choose properties.
6. Confirm that de “target” and “start in” fields are usin’ variables - “%windir%\system32\notepad.exe” - (absolute paths will be problematic if you use this .LNK on machines oder than your own)
7. Now, browse to “%UserProfile%\SendTo” in explorer (which means “C:\Documents and Settin’s\User_Name\SendTo\” folder)
8. And copy de “Edit with Notepad.lnk” file which you already created, to that folder.
9. So now, you can right-click on ANY file-type, and be offered an option to open with notepad, from de SendTo sub-menu.

So now, you just right-click on an .nfo or .eml or .diz file (which are associated with oder programs, and are sometimes just plain-text files), and choose “Send To >> Edit with Notepad” and it will open in notepad! No more boderation of applyin’ registry tweaks for somethin’ as simple as this.

Enable Folder And Icon Refresh

This reg file Enables Folder and Icon Refresh.

1. Copy de followin’ (everythin’ in de box) into notepdad.

QUOTE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced]
“NoNetCrawlin’”=dword:00000000

2. Save de file as disablerefreshundo.reg

3. Double click de file to import into your registry.

NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of a “malicious” script, this is normal if you have “Script Safe” or similar technology enabled.

Download From FTP Using FTP Search Sites

Tools Needed:

SmartFTP [ smartftp.com ]
NAPALM FTP Search Site [ search.ftphost.net ]
vcdquality.com Release Nfo Site
DAMN NFO Viewer or just notepad [www.damn.to ]

This tutorial is so i can stop answerin’ tha same questions everyday in this tutorial I’ll explain how to use search sites like NAPALM effectively. basically better search results and a quality release. We are goin’ to use a movie as de example so here we go.

First thin’ I do is try and figure who released it and if any were nuked and why most of de time you can find de NFO at de sites below

www.deisonews.com - www.nforce.nl - www.vcdquality.com
we are goin’ use vcdquality to find out NFO on Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life
h**p://www.vcdquality.com/index.php?imdbid=0325703

Say you chose de copy Centropy released

Here is de link to de nfo file

h**p://www.vcdquality.com/nfo.php/ctp-tr2.nfo?id=16662&show=text&save=1

If you read it you see a section that says Archives [56/56*15]

Ok so now you know your lookin’ for 2 CD’s and that are Split RAR files at 15mb each. You will also see this (( password is “drudgereportdotcom” )). Im sure that will help later so now to go find de file names by doin’ a search.

Here are some sites you can use

NAPALM - RELIZ - AMUN - FTPSpider

Im goin’ to use NAPALM for de example do an un-filtered search for “tomb raider centropy” without de quotes. But I wouldn’t recommend always searchin’ as above because de name of tha Movie/App/Game/ReleaseGroup isnt always goin’ to be in file name or url. So results could be limited but it helps on gettin’ correct file names. You should notice that de file name seems to be in this format ctp-tr1.r54 and ctp-tr2.r54. “ctp-tr1.r54″ is in a file from CD1 and “ctp-tr2.r54″ is in a file from CD2

Ok so now we know de file names, so search for ctp-tr2.r54 and you will have more streamlined results before we had over 100 results from each ftp that had this movie. With one result per file at over 50 files per cd, that would take way to lon’ to go through page by page till you get to each FTP site.

Now that we have tha search narrowed down by a sin’le file name each result is a different ftp site. Notice also that I have searched for a high number file from cd 2. The reason for this is because it is more likely that it has been fully uploaded and not missin’ any files because most people start uploadin’ from cd1 and in order of first split file .rar .r00 .r01 and NOT from cd2 and backwards .r50 .r49 .r48.

Ok that was easy enough but now we get to de hopefully not slow part of DOWNLOADING de files. Normally you can get better speeds from an anonymous server because you can use multiple connections at once. Say de server only gives ya 4k download, you may be able to connect 50 times at once and get more like 200k download, but a FTP that needs a Password and user name normally isnt that easy. The reason is normally bacause only 1 connection per IP is allowed and amount of users at one time is limited to about 15 or less, so dere are always a lon’ line of peope waitin’ to get in. Basically even if we could have more than one connection per IP, if it took 9 hours to get access you would need to wait that lon’ for each connection or thread. By de time anoder thread connected you would have probably already finished downloadin’ de file anyway.

NAPALM search site has nice search and filter option that will only show anonymous servers in de results page. Now open up SmartFTP and dere are a few options we want to be sure and change.

Tools > Settin’s > General:
Set Default Download Path to whatever you want

Tools > Settin’s > Connection:
Set Max Retries to -1 (( -1 = unlimited ))
Set Retry Delay to @ least 40 sec.*

*(( because some ftp will ban if you hammer/try and login to often ))
*(( read welcome messages on tha ftp log/status window for possible hammer rules ))

Tools > Settin’s > Connection > Keep Alive:
Make sure Keepalive is checked
Set interval to about 40
(( if set to low will be anoyin’ & to high may not be effective on some sitez ))
Highlight NOOP in de list and push Remove
Now type LIST into de box and push tha Add
(( This is de command that keepalive uses to pretend your not idle ))
(( some ftps will kick you out if you are idle to lon’ ))
(( and some still do with tha NOOP command we so have changed it to LIST
(( if you want you can change it to somethin’ better all i know is this works for me ))
(( nobody wants to sit for 9 hours waitin’ to get in den get kicked out ))

SmartFTP also has Clipboard monitorin’, so all you need to do is have smart ftp runnin’. Go Back to NAPALM. Right click a link and select “Copy Shortcut” from tha menu and smartFtp will popup and say FTP URL in clipboard detected. If you want to open that site, just cick yes.

But it can be even more simple than that if you want.

Tools > Settin’s > Display > Prompts:
Uncheck: On URL Catch
(( Now it will just open tha FTP without any prompt ))

When you are conectin’ to ftp you need to watch tha log/status window

For possibe crap links (( dead links and/or ratio sites )), dese are tha most common errorz to look for:

530 Account Disabled.
No connection could be made because de target machine actively refused it. A connection attempt failed because de connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

550 Permission denied
While tryin’ to download a file
(( this is probably a ratio site if it has everythin’ you ever wanted and more & looks to good to be true ))
(( it probably is and id just move on to tha next site ))

Anoder problem you may find on anonymous ftp is that tha files or folders are not dere. 2 reasons for that is dey were eider deleted or just moved. If dey were moved this could be a problem most people uploadin’ to anonymous ftp, made a huge maze of locked folders to hide deir files and that makes for an endless task tryin’ to find de files unless you have an application that can spider de ftp and has de capability to get through locked folders. To have a list of every file on de ftp I dont know of any public application i can recommend with that capability. But dey do exist. This app can get through locked folders and may help. It seems like a crap program, but de best i could find on google in about 5 min worth of searchin’ is:

PubView.zip - www.jtpfxp.net has nfo about dir lockin’ & breakin’ dirs

Ill go over some basic instructions on downloadin’ from Anonymous and NonAnonymous Sites, or maybe i should say sites that allow more than one connection per IP and ones that dont.

We will start with anonymous or multiple thread capable FTP

Once you have de ftp open and you see de files you want. Just drag and drop them into de Global Queue tab on de transfers window and den just push de start button. We should have de In Speed at bottom right status bar. If its not goin’ fast enough, you can adjust de amount of connections/threads you have runnin’. Keep addin’ threads until your bandwidth is maxed or until your total In Speed doesnt get any faster. Anoder thin’ you may wanna keep in mind is that you can connect to more than one ftp downloadin’ CD1 from one site and CD2 from de oder etc. for a combined speed.

Now we go onto NonAnonymous Sitez

You cant use Global Queue because you cant have multiple threads, so just right click de file or folder you want and select Download > Direct > Select Folder. Most of dese sites will be slow and could take hours maybe days to get into, so what i do is just open every sin’le result in NAPALM at de same time. I figure that i have a better chance waitin’ on 10 sites rader than 1. So when you have them all open just close out de ones that have de errors mentioned above, den you can walk away and check every so often to see if you have gotten in one yet. This is where de keepalive option helps out and of course if you happen to get into more than one at a time
just go for tha combined speed method if it is goin’ slow.

Disable Windows Logo Key

I was recently playin’ games and this nasty windos logo key keep annoyin’ me , cause I often accidently clicked it , and I start to search a solution to solve my problem, and found de followin’ article in microsfot website, and it did work, hope this helps, thanks!
