Create Site Maps And An Index

Give the search engine spiders a map

Create a site map for your site. Setup a page and take some time and link to each and every page on your website, including a short description for each page.

This may take some time to initially setup, but if you add this to your list of to do items whenever you add a new page to your site, it won’t be so bad.

Link to this page from your home page and from each of the pages on your website. Most spider based search engines (like Google) really love to find pages through other links.

A site map makes their job easier, and it ensures that each page of your site will eventually get indexed.

Fill it with keywords

Make sure to include keywords describing each page listed on your site map. This will also help in the ranking for the pages your site map points to.

The keywords you use here will help set the initial theme for the spiders as the reach that page. If you’ve done your job well and followed the advice in the previous article properly, you’ll make it so much easier for the search engines to index your pages the way you want them to be indexed.

They’re good for people too

The main purpose for your site map will be to make it easier for search engine spiders to find all the pages on your site.

But they can also be useful navigation tools for your visitors. Keep this in mind when creating your site map and you’ll be adding more value for your visitors.

Having good navigation for your website is essential for getting your visitors to stay longer and browse around on your site.

If they get confused and can’t find their way around, they’ll head straight for the nearest exit.

Hide Workstation In Network Neighborhood

1) Click Start
2) Right click My Network Places
3) Select Properties
4) Right click your local area connection
5) Click Properties
6) Uncheck de box that says and Printer Sharin’ for Microsoft Networks
7) Click OK

But what if you want to be able to share folders with some users; you just don’t want everyone on de network to see your computer’s shares? There’s a way:

1) Click Start
2) select Run.
3) In de Run box, type net config server /hidden:yes
4) Click OK.

Now oders who know de UNC path (\\computer name\share name) can connect to your computer’s shares from de Run box, but it won’t show up in de network browse list.

How To Boot Windows XP Faster

First of all, this tweak only apply to those who only have one HDD on deir primary IDE channel (nothin’ else on device 0 or 1) and a CD-ROM and/or DVD-ROM on de secondary IDE channel. Each time you boot Windows XP, dere’s an updated file called NTOSBOOT-*.pf who appears in your prefetch directory (%SystemRoot%Prefetch) and dere’s no need to erase any oder files as de new prefetch option in XP really improves loadin’ time of installed programs. We only want WindowsXP to boot faster and not decrease its performance. Channel tweak as those two tricks, coupled togeder with a little modification, result in an EXTREMELY fast bootup:

1. Open notepad.exe, type “del c:windowsprefetch tosboot-*.* /q” (without de quotes) & save as “ntosboot.bat” in c:
2. From de Start menu, select “Run…” & type “gpedit.msc”.
3. Double click “Windows Settin’s” under “Computer Configuration” and double click again on “Shutdown” in de right window.
4. In de new window, click “add”, “Browse”, locate your “ntosboot.bat” file & click “Open”.
5. Click “OK”, “Apply” & “OK” once again to exit.
6. From de Start menu, select “Run…” & type “devmgmt.msc”.
7. Double click on “IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers”
8. Right click on “Primary IDE Channel” and select “Properties”.
9. Select de “Advanced Settin’s” tab den on de device 0 or 1 that doesn’t have ‘device type’ greyed out select ‘none’ instead of ‘autodetect’ & click “OK”.
10. Right click on “Secondary IDE channel”, select “Properties” and repeat step 9.
11. Reboot your computer.

Windows XP should now boot REALLY faster.

Block People In WinMX Who Share Nothing

Some people seem to think our network is a kind of a store a dey just pick what dey want without sharin’ anythin’!

You can help everybody gettin’ rid of them by boycottin’ them that way:

You “browse” each uploadin’ user.

If he/she shares more than, say, a hundred files (and NOT in de WinMx directory only, puttin’ them elsewhere and unshared when entirely downloaded !!!), OK.

NB: a hundred is not a lot but 1- we don’t all have a large HDD and some files are big 2- when you begin!

If not:

You can send a message to him/her to ask why dere is no real share, or not at all, for dey can have forgotten to do so: give them a chance! The first time, I didn’t understand that I had to choose de shared files types, so I shared nothin’, unwillin’ly. Somebody told it to me in a message.

If no answer and/or still no shared file, you can exclude de selfish beast:

To block somebody from downloadin’, add de name to your HOTLIST (right-click de name den “Add to hotlist”) den to your IGNORE list.

You won’t receive any messages nor will dey enter your queue, durin’ that session at least.

On de contrary, you can help people who share a lot by startin’ de transfer when dey are in your queue, or give a higher bandwith priority.
