You have learnt about making money as the publisher in pay per click programs in the previous article about Google Adsense. In this article you are about to learn about tips and tricks of earning profits by being an advertiser with Google Adwords. Other than combining Google Adwords and Google Adsense to direct traffic for your Adsense revenue, Adwords could be used to market your own products and your affiliate’s products.

The problem with Adwords is that they only allow a limited set of words to be displayed. This makes attracting readers a tough job. In this article, I have a few tips and pointers where as you could be earning truckloads with a killer set of words.

Now the trick to attract readers is to use a sense of fear as i have mentioned in the Google Adsense topic. Fear is the best motivator and drive for a reader to buy or take up a service. The second way to create a killer description is to use a set of oddly or humourous joke snippets. Just think about it, descriptions which are unique aften attracts readers. Below are sets of examples of what you could write :

Looking at the example above, fear drive advertisements was shown in the scams snippet. We could alternatively use the oddity type as the Seinfeld or the humorous types such as the Ugly and Poor advertisements. Now, if you compare between the ones on the left and the ones on the right, which do you think attracts better attention? If 7 people shows advertisements on the left and show the ones on the right, (Google only allows 8 advertisements per search in the search engine) who do you think are going to get all the visitors?

There is also another advertisement shown above that may seem ironic. Often, when you direct the reader not to buy your products, it makes the best impact. Reverse psychology seems to work great in Adwords marketing. What you should do is to create a good website as shown in the previous article to “reverse” the reversed psychology of the reader. I remember seeing an advertisement for jeans one time that said “Steal These Jeans” or “Steal Our Jeans”. I was drawn to it, and I still remember it. That’s the same idea. And that is effective advertising.

Also, I need to tell you that pop-up pages are strictly prohibited in PPC advertisements. Creating pop-ups will result in an instant ban for your website. However, there is a way around this. What if i tell you that there is a way not to get banned by PPC programs and 90% of the pop-up blocker would not sense it? It will guarantee not to annoy readers too. Creating attractive advertisements improves your Click Through Rates (CTR). You will be paying lesser per-click than your competitors if you have a high CTR. Besides that, you will be apprearing in top spots and search results with high CTR as Google favours it the best. When you have high CTR, you would not have to worry about your products not being sold, or could not make money for affiliate business. Create good descriptions, you won’t regret it.

With the knowledge from the previous article, now you know more about Google Adsense and Google Adwords. Let me tell you a strategy that could earn you unlimited profits from Google Adsense. A good web programmer can blend in Adsense nicely into the webpage that readers do not even feel that it is an advertisement. However, without traffic, that would render it completely useless. Now, where would the traffic come from? Blogging? SEO? Just by counting on SEO would not take you anywhere.

The trick is to be a traffic middleman. You have to combine Google Adwords to do this. Get quick, cheap and quality traffic to your website by purchasing keyword advertisements with Google Adwords or Yahoo. Bid on only the minimum of $0.05 to $0.10 or buying one of the top 3 positions on the small PPC search engine. When readers from the world wide web clicks on your advertisements, they will be taken to your web site that shows exactly the relevant information that they are searching about. Google will do a good job in analyzing to show the relevant advertisements in your page, so optimize your page content that you want readers that clicked on your advertisements to click onto your Adsense advertisements.

You will be paying pennies to obtain a visitor, a very small price to pay for traffic. By paying this small price, you can gain dollars with the Adsense advertisements on your page. Later in this article, I will show you a list of keywords that Google advertisers currently pay the most, per click.

You can bid $0.05 for a keyword and gain $0.50 for that back in your page. This is superb. There are hundreds of thousand of keywords that could literally be bidded cheaply on the smaller PPC programs as stated above this page. These keywords may be VERY expensive if you bidded on Google Adwords. The key is to survey the price of various keywords from the smaller sites and choose the larger programs (Adsense) as publisher.

EXAMPLE

I did a search on the price of keywords of “Search Engine Optimization” on Miva.com and found out that it costs $0.21 to bid for the first placing. I did a similar search in Google Adwords for the same keyword and found out that i costs a WHOPPING $7.00 for it. The same keyword, one at the price of $0.21 and the other, $7.00 per click. Now, tell me, is that a huge difference? The fact is larger programs have a higher bidding price if compared to the smaller ones.

The only program that tells you how much an advertiser is bidding on a keyword is Overture (Yahoo). However through experience and research, I found out that Google has quite the similar maximums. The have a look at the list of most paying keywords, click here. You might be surprised that some advertisers even bid more than $100 for a single click on a particular keyword. Do you see the potential now? A few pennies to exchange with at least 50% of $100?

WARNING : Google has very strict policies. Any wrong-doings will lead to a bad for life. Please do not overlook these policies. You can view the Terms And Conditions and the Program Policies here. A few quick pointers if you are too lazy to read all the small caps in the policies :

1) Never click on your own Adsense advertisements
2) Never put Adsense in a page with little or no contents
3) Never point and guide the reader to click the Adsense advertisements (eg. Click here)
4) You can only put “Sponsored Links” and “Advertisements” above the Adsense snippets
5) No adult contents allowed

Pointers for your ads to blend into the page and to trigger relevant Google advertisements

1) Do not use borders around the Adsense advertisements. Make it look more like a part of your content
2) Use the same background colour for Adsense and your site page.
3) Put Advertisements within your content, thus to look like a link
4) Make sure that you have the keyphrase “Search Engine Optimization” in the page title
5) Make sure that you have the keyphrase “Search Engine Optimization” in the meta tags
6) Make sure that you have the keyphrase “Search Engine Optimization” in the the description tags
7) Make sure that you have the keyphrase “Search Engine Optimization” in the content several times, with at least 1 rendering it with “bold”
8) You should have a H1 and H2 heading tag on the page for the keyphrase “Search Engine Optimization” as well
9) Make a link back to the homepage with an anchor text of keyphrase “Search Engine Optimization”

NOTE : Sometimes getting contents are quite a hassle. You just can’t seem to find enough content to put into your website or you are too lazy to write, think and type contents into the website. Do not worry. This is not the end of the world. There are tons of sites that provides thousands of free articles and you are free to use it on your site. The most important factor is to find and create a page with Good Paying Keywords. The ones that is in the Excel sheet above. (I hope that you have successfully downloaded it). Another important thing to do is to bid variations of those keywords such as “biggest”, “cheapest”, “most affordable” and “cheapest”. Create lots of variations, again, be creative! The next thing is to send click-throughs to the page that you have just created and you would most probably get the advertisers that bidded $1-$100 for the top spots. You will also obtain a 20%-50% click through rate if you have followed my instructions earlier. Keep doing this for more and more keywords. Impressions and click through rates may be low, but you can do this with thousands of keywords. Let us imagine, if you get $1 out of each keyword, multiply with 1000 keywords per day. you would get an average of $30,000 per month! Now, how’s that. Keep increasing your max bid penny a bit at a time, until you reach your definition of “peak” profit rate.

NOTE : There is a danger of choosing high paying keywords to advertise to your site. Let us take for example of a $50 advertisement. It is an average that Google Adsense will pay around 50% of the revenue to you. In this case, you SHOULD be paid somewhere around $25. However, to protect the advertisers, if you own a fairly new site or your article does not really match what the advertiser is advertising, you could get lesser than the amount of what you should get. I would approximately guess that it would be somewhere arounf $15-$20. DO NOT PANIC. You could easily tweak your page content back to the original advertisement that was put on your page. For instance, if the advertisement is regarding to “Computer Software” and you are showing “Computer Repairs” on your site, you can easily tweak and add contents about computer software to match bank the advertisements. You would need to test alot of different keywords to choose which one is the most profitable to you.

For me, I would always prefer to stick to those of $1 to $2 advertisements and bid a less amount ($0.05-$0.10) in Miva.com and get a click through rate of 20% or so. For $1 i get 20 visitors. 20% of click through rates would give me somewhere around 4 clickers per $1. Now, 4 clickers would be doubling or tripling off what i invested. While I playing around with cheap and low-bidded keywords I have a few advantages:

1) I can play with thousands of those keywords
2) I can keep on testing and retesting as those keywords are CHEAP!
3) I can avoid the possibility of not getting full percentage if compared to high bidded keywords
4) I always get favourable percentages as these are the keywords that is not usually played with

Another way to attract clicks is to place pictures around the Adsense snippets. (Be careful not to put graphics such as “Click this” or something that resembles that). Here is an example:

It’s also important to create a “channel” in your AdSense account for each of your domains. You can also create
sub-channels for different pages within each URL. This will enable you to track exactly which pages are earning you the most money.

Advanced Middleman Traffic Trick

Here is a simple trick that can be an alternative too for gaining profits from Adsense. This trick uses the technology of the search engine. Create a search engine for your site that returns a pre-populated searches for the smaller PPC search engines and make the first few results SPONSORED results from Google or SearchFeed.

Now if UncovertheNet were to purchase the keyphrase “pay per click” on Miva or another small PPC search engine for say 10 cents, they would make sure their paid ad led people to the URL above. Now when visitors reach that page, they will see results for the same keyword they originally typed in, so they won’t likely understand what happened when they were shipped to UncovertheNet’s results. Now if they click on the sponsored ads at the top of UncovertheNet’s pre-populated page (which are from searchfeed), or the sponsored ads on the right (which are from Google), UncovertheNet will make 20 cents, 40 cents, or whatever the current rate is on Searchfeed and Google.

Basically you will be paying Miva or another PPC search engine to send people to your search engine that shows relevant results. And hopefully the visitors will click on your sponsored ads because:

1) What they are looking for are relevant
2) The advertisements are on the top-right. This place is the best placement for click throughs
3) They look like real results. Readers do not like advertisements. This serves a very good way to blend in

For example, let’s say you are the publisher and you site is about dogs. You would have to put a code snippet into your site as a publisher. Once you have done that, Google will place all the advertisement form the advertisers about dogs (dog care, types of dogs, dogs for sale etc). Let’s say a particular advertiser is paying $1.00 per click and Google shares 50% of the commission with you. You would be receiving $0.50 for that particular click. This is one of the most important stage in affiliate networking. It would be totally useless if you have all the knowledge in the world about affiliates but you do not own a web site. Further to that, even though if you do own a web site, it have to be interesting and content rich.

It is recommended that you obtain a top level domain buy paying a price ($8.99 - $14.99) rather than using a subdomain from a free site, something like (dogs.freesite.com). Through affiliate networking, you do not just obtain sales. If we think in every aspect of opportunity that is created through affiliates, we will come to the fact that we have tremendous power to obtain leads. Imagine that if you own a web page for free information with regards to latest computer technology. (Example of this page, however, this page is free information for almost everything) Normally other web sites would charge consumers for these information. What you could do is to require the reader to fill up a form with no obligation, in order to obtain the free information.

There are a few top engine searches by name. A few of these are “Traffic Secrets” and “Google Profits”. The latter, “Google Profits” is a product of ClickBank. Like I said, information selling or we would like to call it intangible products sold are the most profitable in affiliate networks.

We take the example of “Google Profits” in ClickBank. Currently, “Google Profits” is offering 67% of the commissions on profit as an affiliate. Just imagine, let say you offer 40% of the total of 67% that is offered to affiliates, do you think that people will buy from you? This is called an affiliate rebate.

CASE STUDY

The program’s worth : $100
What you earn : $67 (67%)
You offer to consumer : $26.80
You are left with : $30.40

Now, if this method will gain you an extra 40-50 consumers per month, do you think it is far more than worth it to adopt this technique? Tell the consumer that the rebate will be paid to them in 60 days and ask for a receipt after the 60th day. In this way, you are secured as you can check you ClickBank account if they have got a refund of the product or not. (Hint : Always make sure that your interest is protected). If they have not obtained a refund, you can pay them through other payment processors for example, PayPal. While all other affiliates are promoting how great the “Google Profits” is and yada yada, you are uniquely offering the consumers “Rebate $26.80 by joining Google Profits today!”

One thing to remember, not every consumer will remember to send you a receipt after 60 days. What you can imply in your rules is that you will forfeit the rebate if they do not claim from the 60th to the 70th day. Often, consumers will get more excited in the product that they purchased than the measely $26.80 that they are entitled to. This way, you could save up your 40% that you are supposed to rebate to the consumer and push the rebate to the next consumer. There will be a point in time that you could hang a banner stating “FREE CLICKBANK PRODUCT FOR THE FIRST 10 CUSTOMER”. This will drive a crazy amount of traffic to your site. You will get serious attention when you advertise in this way. Of course, state some conditions with it, for example, backlinking or bundled purchase. You can tweak it all you like, be creative.

You will not sustain a very great profit if everybody remembers to obtain the rebate from you. However, through experience, only 15-20% of the consumers remember the rebate and 80-85% of them just simply forget after the 60 days.

You would think that most of the consumers would just opt to buy from ClickBank and get a 25-75% discount on their own. You would wonder why would anybody be so foolish to obtain it from your link. Believe me, there are. The fact is that most of the people out there are out to find ways to make money from the internet and not webmasters and tech savvy users like you and me. Further to that, if you have followed the instructions as above, by offering a 100% rebate or anything more than 75%, you would have beaten their own offer from their own links.

In this section, I will cover the importance and steps of how to create a killing sales letter.

Sales letters are important to attract and to maintain the interest of the reader. Imagine that if you would have written something that is superly boring, would the reader be reading on? Remember this, a reader on the internet is never like a reader in a bookstall. Researchers have proven that readers on the internet will move on in 5 seconds if they find it boring.

Below are 6 strategies of writing an interesting sales letter. One that would keep readers on your article without clicking on the “Back” button. This is proven to be useful, not only for the affiliate products, but even for your own products.

1. Create Hope

Thousands of people search every day for “hope”. That’s right, people buy money-making ebooks, diet ebooks, how-to-gamble ebooks, and many more based purely on hope. 99% of these people will not put these ebooks into action whatsoever. But they have it in their head that if they buy a certain ebook, they will learn a secret that will change their life. And once they finish the book (if they even read it), they don’t put it into action because they ultimately find out it takes too much work. Then a month later, they’re searching on the internet for the same thing – a magic formula for success in a particular facet of life such as money, looks, health, etc. And they gobble up these ebooks like there is no tomorrow… at least the ones that have good ad copy. And the sellers of most of these ebooks rarely reveal anything you don’t already know. And they know it. But they offer their money back guarantees because they know that more than 75% of people will put the ebook on the back burner and forget to request a refund.

So, invoking HOPE is the first of 5 aspects I ALWAYS utilize to make a killer website that sells. And you can give people hope in many ways, with many different products, but I find it most effective with informational products, because somehow you can get away with practically promising the world, and then under-delivering. You are basically telling people what they want to hear. However, hope can also apply to physical products, such as a credit card for example.“Get your xyz credit card today and re-build your credit quicker”. Or how about “Order the Pentium 4 xyz computer today and do things on a computer you’ve never dreamed of.” Of course, those sentences aren’t really convincing enough to make you get the credit card or computer, but hope itself doesn’t sell things. There are 3 more things to add to the puzzle.

2. Cause a Sense of Urgency

The second aspect of a killer site that sells is giving people a sense of URGENCY. I’m sure you’ve seen products for sale that say something like “order by midnight tonight and you will receive a $20 discount”. But I guarantee if you go back to that page the next day, it says the same thing. Buyers may even consider that, but do they really want to risk the $20 discount not being there the next day? Chances are, if it’s an impulse buy, they won’t want to risk waiting and possibly missing out on the deal.

My advice is, instead of doing a “by midnight” html script that is easily spotted as a fake by most net savvy people, try making a real deadline of say the last day of the month or 2 weeks from now, and hardcode it into the site. After it passes, you can always make a new deadline. Another trick is to say only the next 100 members are being accepted, or something to that effect, and then have an image of 100 crossed out, and a number such as 82 next to it.

3. Appear as an Authority

The third aspect of a killer site that sells is to appear as an AUTHORITY. No matter what you are selling, you must appear to be an expert on the subject. As they say, appearances are everything. Why would I want to buy a gambling ebook from a guy that shows evidence that he won $200 at a card game one time? Big deal. You want the ebook from the guy that won $8 million at gambling. An advanced technique is to appear as an unbiased authority. If you can come across as someone who is trying to help, and doesn’t re- ally benefit from a sale of the products listed on your site, you are another step ahead of the game. People love to follow the advice of independent reviewers who are just giving their “honest” opinion of a product. They don’t need to know you get a commission for the sale.

4. Appear Unbiased

The fourth aspect of a killer site that sells is to appear as an unbiased 3rd party. You can review products as if you are trying to help people make informed decisions without looking like you are affiliated with them. See my sales letter below for a unique example.

5. Encourage Fear

The fifth aspect of a killer site that sells is causing FEAR. You can actually instill fear into your visitors, by making them believe that they will face problems ahead if they buy a similar product elsewhere, or if they don’t buy yours….NOW. How do you do this? How about this:“Get Rich Quick Scams Revealed……”. Then write an article about many occurrences of get rich quick fraud. But, don’t name names. Be general in what you call a scam, because you don’t want any legal trouble. Then, after your article, you could say that throughout your comprehensive research for the exposé article, you did come across a couple of money making programs that people were repeatedly happy with. You even spoke to the owners of the programs you recommend, etc. and found them to be very honest and straightforward, didn’t you?

Well, you just set the hook, now time to push them to the sites you get the highest commission for.

Lets face it, when most people think of what the internet is best known for, they think of porn and scams. Since NOBODY wants to be scammed, you play on that fear.

6. Be VERY Unusual (optional - used mainly for selling your own product)

If you are selling your own product, you may not be able to use the scam or fear aspects. But the authority and urgency aspects will still work. In addition you need to use the UNUSUAL aspect. This means telling people NOT to buy your product. That’s right, encourage them NOT to buy your product until they have tried your competitors’ products and are unsatisfied with them, as you know they will be. Go back and look at my homepage. Not to boast, but I told you several times NOT to buy this eBook unless you were sick of all the other lame programs out there. It’s the same thing when selling your product. Even if your product is not as good as your competitors’, it costs more, etc., just using the unusual approach of telling people not to buy your product will work. By convincing them that you want them to go ahead and buy other products that you KNOW will fail them, you automatically earn a sort of loyalty, because you appear that you are not just interested in a sale.

Now let’s put all 5 aspects (remember, the 6th is optional) into a small sample sales letter, which according to aspect 4 shouldn’t really even look like a sales letter. Let’s use the get rich quick subject again, as it’s a hugely popular subject on the internet (see next page).

There are plenty affiliate networks out there for you to join. Have you pondered the power of affiliate networks and the connection with making money from the internet? If you have joined one before, perhaps you would have already known. What affiliate programs would you join? How to bring enough traffic in order to cash in the profits from affiliate programs? More importantly, how do you promote your affiliate programs?

Do you already have an affiliate site that people come and buy something? Finding the top affiliate program seems to be easy. While some companies have their own in-house affiliate program, others have theirs run by a major affiliate network. Below are some of the top affiliate sites that you would want to join:

Commission Junction - One of the largest internet properties in the world would be here. Top affiliate companies offering products from computers to credit cards
BeFree - Owned by Commission Junction. Offering the near to the same products with it
LinkShare - Top companies offering their programs to be sold here

Performics - Top companies, decent and large companies here
WebSponsors - A “boutique” network website that offers FREE programs too!
ShareSale - Intermediate and so-so affiliate programs
ClickxChange - A large group of small companies that offers products including foreign pharmacies

JOIN WHEN BORED
ClixGalore - This affiliate program is multi-tiered. Includes even companies who offer vacation packages
FineClicks - Small subsidiary of the large site of ShareSale.com
AffiliateFuel - Restrictions of publishers being top level domain and have a minimum of 2000 unique visitors a day. Just a medium site
FastClick - This site is thoroughly screened and quality controlled. However it is still a small site
DarkBlue - DOES NOT CHARGE ANY FEES. This is a medium site

Currently the top affiliate site is Clickbank.com. It offers a structure called EPC (Earnings Per Click). EPC determines which products sells the best and you can save your time by siphoning the best product to sell. In Clickbank’s terms, this is called “Gravity”.

Selling information on the internet is the best and fastest way to get rich. Although there are many various ways where you can make a killing sale on physical products on the net, selling information still provides the shortest period of time and the most convenient way of converting profits. This is due to the nature of the internet and with the help of search engines.

When you have joined any of the affiliate network site as mentioned above, it is time to write a killing sales letter to drive customers in. This will be plugged into the website that you will be creating that is in the later part of this category. (Alternatively you can jump to Create HTML files using web page templates

Now that you’ve placed your e-book file online (2 files if you’re offering compressed and uncompressed versions), the only thing that remains to be done is to place a link on your download page pointing to the file.

Sticking with the examples from the previous page, you would simply place a link to:

www.websitename.com/download/mybook.exe

or in the case of a zipped file…

www.websitename.com/download/mybook.zip

Once your customer clicks this link, the download process will begin. The customer’s browser will open up a “save as” window which will allow them to save your file onto their computers.

Notes

1. You may want to write the links above in HTML. This is how the first one would look with the text ‘Click here to download!’:

2. Always use the correct case (you’re better off sticking with lower) in your files, directories and links. Many web servers are case sensitive.

And, of course, test it!

Be sure to test the download link to ensure that everything works as it should. Then, get some of your friends to try it out on their PCs.

If, when you click the link, nothing happens, then verify that you’ve written the link correctly and that the EXE file is where it’s supposed to be. If this is all okay, then you should talk to your webhost support.

Now that your download files are ready, you need to send them online to your webhost’s server. In other words, you need to send the e-book’s EXE and/or ZIP files up to your website where they can be accessed by your customers.

Here’s the procedure for this…

Let’s say that your e-book’s EXE file is mybook.exe and let’s say your website is at www.websitename.com.

Ideally, you should place the book in a sub-directory (sub-folder) of your website. You can create the sub-directory using FTP software or through your webhost’s control panel. If unsure, ask your webhost support for help.

Tips: If you’re using FTP software (like the shareware version of WS_FTP) to create a sub-directory in your website, then simply click the MakeDirectory (MkDir) button on the right panel and type in the new directory’s name.

You can call this directory anything you want. Let’s say you call it ‘download’.

Now upload the book to this directory using either FTP software or your webhost’s ‘File Upload’ feature if they have one.

Tips: If you’re using FTP software to upload the book, simply open the sub-directory in the panel on the right. In the panel on the left select the EXE file of your book. Now using your software’s ‘Upload’ button, send the file. (In WS_FTP the upload button is the right-pointing arrow between the two panels). Be sure to select ‘binary’ as the ‘transfer mode’ (this is usually the default setting).
